Counseling
Wright Elementary is committed to supporting the Social, Emotional, Behavioral Health (SEBH) of all students so they feel safe, supported, and ready to learn each day. Our school counseling program is aligned with our focus on emotional safety, positive peer relationships, and a strong sense of belonging for every student.
Classroom Guidance Lessons
All students participate in classroom guidance lessons designed to build essential social-emotional skills that support a positive school climate. Lessons focus on emotional regulation, recognizing and responding to feelings, problem-solving, respectful communication, and building positive peer relationships. Instruction also supports prevention of bullying behaviors such as exclusion, name-calling, rumor spreading, and peer conflict.
Additional lessons may support academic and developmental readiness, including ISASP preparation and transition activities for fifth grade students as they prepare for middle school.
Small Group & Individual Support
Students may receive targeted support through small group or individual counseling based on need. These groups focus on strengthening emotional regulation, reducing peer conflict, increasing positive peer interactions, and building healthy friendships. Supports are designed to help students develop skills that promote safe, respectful, and inclusive interactions with others.
Family & Community Connections
Our counselor partners with families and community organizations to support student well-being and reduce barriers to learning. This may include connections to school supplies, coats and winter gear, and weekly food bags to ensure students’ basic needs are met so they can fully engage in learning.
Through these supports, we work to strengthen students’ sense of safety, belonging, and connection at school while promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment for all.
