At Wright Elementary, we are grateful for the many community partners who enrich the educational experiences of our students and families. Through their generosity, expertise, and support, our students have access to meaningful opportunities that extend learning beyond the classroom.
Iowa State University Extension and Outreach
Through our partnership with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, Wright students participate in hands-on learning experiences that promote healthy habits, nutrition, and environmental stewardship. First-grade students benefit from the Pick a Better Snack program, while students in our Wright Garden Club engage in gardening activities that foster responsibility, teamwork, and a deeper understanding of where food comes from. Their support has also helped strengthen and sustain our school garden, providing valuable learning opportunities for students throughout the year.
Eastern Iowa Arts Academy
The Eastern Iowa Arts Academy provides engaging after-school arts programming for Wright students during both the fall and spring. Through opportunities in visual arts, music, theater, and creative expression, students are encouraged to explore their talents, build confidence, and develop new skills in a supportive and enriching environment.
Junior Achievement
Junior Achievement volunteers bring career exploration, financial literacy, and workforce readiness experiences directly into our classrooms. Through engaging lessons and activities, students learn about careers, entrepreneurship, money management, and the skills needed to be successful in the future.
Cedar Rapids Parks & Recreation
Wright Elementary partners with Cedar Rapids Parks & Recreation, the Parks, Waterways & Recreation Commission, and the Cedar Rapids Parks Foundation to provide free swim lessons for our second-grade students. This valuable program promotes water safety, builds confidence, and provides students with an important life skill while ensuring access for all learners.
Hy-Vee and Casey's
We are grateful for the continued support of Hy-Vee and Casey's, whose generosity helps create memorable experiences for Wright students and families. Throughout the year, these community partners have contributed food, treats, supplies, and volunteer support for a variety of school events and celebrations.
From Hy-Vee team members volunteering their time to grill and serve food at our Spring Carnival to Casey's providing donuts for our 5th Grade Graduation Breakfast, their partnership helps foster a sense of community and celebration while supporting opportunities for students and families to connect. Their ongoing commitment to Wright helps make many of our special events possible and enriches the overall school experience for our students.
